How does your wait-list work?
We maintain a limited reservation list for each litter.
Placement on the list is based on when the reservation deposit is received, after your application is approved.
Once approved, we’ll invite you to review and sign our agreement and place your reservation deposit and officially secure your spot for an upcoming litter.
How does puppy selection work?
At 7 weeks of age, we perform temperament evaluations on each puppy.
Using your application and preferences, we thoughtfully select the puppy that best matches your family’s lifestyle, activity level, and personality — while also considering preferred color or gender.
Because temperament and compatibility come first, we ask families to remain open to a range of colors and gender. This helps place each puppy in a home where they will thrive.
When are puppies chosen?
Puppy Asssignments are made after temperament evaluations are completed at 7 weeks old.
Puppies are placed in order of deposit received, and families are notified during the 7-week “Pupdate” email which puppy will be joining their family.
Our focus is always to find the best match for both puppy and family.
What age do puppies go home?
Puppies are ready to go home at 8 weeks of age.
Your “Gotcha Day” — scheduled for the 8th week after birth — is shared in the litter announcement email.
How do I get my puppy?
At this time, we do not ship or fly puppies. All puppies must be picked up in person from our home in Southwest Virginia.
We are conveniently located:
-
1 hour 30 minutes from Roanoke, VA
-
2 hours from Charlotte, NC
This ensures your puppy experiences the least amount of stress and a safe, smooth transition into your arms.
How are families notified of their puppy being born?
Each family on our waitlist will receive a litter announcement email once the puppies arrive.
This email includes:
-
Your Gotcha Day date (8 weeks after birth)
-
Your final payment due date
-
Details about weekly “Pupdates,” where you’ll follow the litter’s progress.
What is a guardian home and does your program offer that?
Yes. As a small, in-home breeding program, we believe every dog deserves to live as part of a loving family — not in a kennel. Our Guardian Home Program allows select families to become permanent homes for one of our breeding dogs while partnering with us for future litters.
Guardian families receive a top-quality breeding prospect at a reduced initial cost and enjoy being part of our extended Blue Ridge Delightful Doodles family.
We are currently accepting Guardian Home applications for upcoming puppies in 2026.
How often do Australian Labradoodles need grooming?
Australian Labradoodles have beautiful, coats that shed very little, though no dog is ever completely hypoallergenic.
To maintain a healthy coat:
-
Brush daily if possible (or at least 3–4 times a week) to prevent tangles.
-
Schedule professional grooming every 6–8 weeks.
-
Occasional baths are fine, but overbathing can dry out their skin and coat.
Early grooming exposure — which begins with us — helps puppies become confident and comfortable during routine care.
What sizes do Australian Labradoodles come in?
Australian Labradoodles come in three sizes:
| Size | Weight | Height (at withers) |
|---|---|---|
| Miniature | 15–25 lbs | 14–16 inches |
| Medium | 25–45 lbs | 17–20 inches |
| Standard | 45–65 lbs | 21–24 inches |
At this time, Blue Ridge Delightful Doodles proudly focuses on the Miniature size — averaging 15–25 lbs and 14–16 inches at the shoulder.
When can I visit the puppies?
To protect the health and safety of our puppies, we do not allow in-person visits until Gotcha Day.
We share weekly photo and video updates (“Pupdates”) so you can follow their growth and milestones. This minimizes stress and exposure for the young puppies while still keeping families connected and involved.
Do you offer a Health Guarantee?
Yes. Every Blue Ridge Delightful Doodles puppy is backed by our 2-year genetic health guarantee, as outlined in our Companion Puppy Purchase Agreement.
Our breeding dogs are all OFA, CAER, cardiac, and DNA tested.
What is your Spay/Neuter Policy?
All Blue Ridge Delightful Doodles puppies are sold as companions only with no breeding rights.
Our agreement requires spay/neuter by 12 months of age, with veterinary proof submitted to us by that date.
This helps support healthy, ethically bred lines and contributes to preserving the integrity of the Australian Labradoodle breed.
